At the congregational level, the governing body is called the session, from the Latin word “sessio”, meaning "a sitting". The session is made up of the pastors of the church and all elders elected and installed to active service. The session takes care of the guidance and direction of the ministry of the local church, including almost all responsibilities of spiritual and fiduciary leadership. The session also oversees the work of the deacons, a second body of leaders also tracing its origins to the Book of Acts.

The deacons are a congregational-level group whose duty is "to minister to those who are in need, to the sick, to the friendless, and to any who may be in distress both within and beyond the community of faith."

Directs the finances of the church under the oversight of the Session.

It has been great to serve as the Pastor at Evergreen for 16 years.

Evergreen is a great place to call home!

You might be wondering, “Who is this Pastor guy?”  Well, I graduated from Ellensburg High School, went to a two-year college in Alaska, graduated from Washington State University and Fuller Theological Seminary.  Things I do for fun are:  boating (sail and power), grow dahlias, work in the garden and hang out with my wife Brenda (her “love language” is Quality Time).  The DISC personality inventory rates me equally high as a “D” and “I”.  My favorite book in the New Testament is the Gospel of Mark.  My favorite Starbucks drink is an iced, decaf, venti, Americano with 4 Splendas and extra cream.  I am currently reading Dave Ramsey’s EntreLeadership.

I accepted Jesus as my savior and Lord as a high school junior.  Since that time it has been exciting to serve the Lord’s church in many capacities.  I love to watch people grow as Christ-followers!

Stop by Evergreen and say “Hi” and maybe we can go get a cup of coffee.
